Detached ADU:

A detached ADU is established in a newly built or existing structure that is detached entirely from the primary dwelling.

Attached ADU:

An attached ADU is a secondary dwelling unit that shares a wall or is built onto your primary
residence. Think of it as an extension of your existing home, or in other words, an addition that
shares one or more walls with the main house.

Junior ADU:

A junior ADU is located entirely within the existing walls of an established single family home,
not to exceed 500 square feet. Unlike an ADU however, these homes require owner
occupancy, meaning the owner of the property must reside in either the JADU or the primary
home if they are to rent out either one.

Garage Conversion:

An ADU garage conversion involves transforming your detached or attached garage into a
separate living space that can function as a secondary dwelling unit.

What is an ADU?

An accessory dwelling unit (ADU) is a secondary housing unit located on the same property as the primary residence, typically requiring its own entrance, kitchen, living space and bathroom facilities. Each accessory dwelling is considered a secondary housing unit independent from the main single-family house, meaning you can rent them out separately..

Here are the different types of ADUs:
